Jubilee party
17 Answers
I am not sure that I am allowed to say this but I am dreading the Jubilee do's
I think the Queen is wonderful ,but people near by just need one excuse to create a "BBQ" /party which means our home is filled with their smoke and stink and young yobs getting drunk on cheap booze,I cannot be alone in not looking forward to this weekend. Someone has just told me that it is £12.50 to stand on a London bridge to watch the boat procession.

The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "[e]veryone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice".
Not wanting to partake in the Jubilee celebrations is a valid expression of your rights, and should be respected.

I don't get this anti Jubilee thingy!
Don't me wrong I'm not fussed either way, but I have barely heard a thing about it, I believe its called freedom of choice. I read the news I want and don't really watch the tv, But I work on the internet and have seen nowt.
Just do your own thing and ignore all the fuss!

I think you're wrong about being charged for standing on a bridge to watch it, who told you and how do they know?
We have a table booked for a family lunch at the outside part of a restaurant on the banks of the Thames in London. We're all looking forward to being together, enjoying the pageantry and being part of this historic event.
I have no problem with those who don't want to join in and can't understand why some have a problem with those who do. Just do you own thing and leave others to do theirs.

It's probably to do with somepeople feeling that the media are forcefeeding the Jubilee & Olympics constantly down the airwaves at all times of the day, and expecting that they're supposed to be happy-clappy and supportive of it all, when they really couldn't care about it, or don't wish to be part of it.
I believe the OP has stated that its not the Jubilee which is their issue, but the constant assumption that everybody in the country is "up" for it, which possiby a sizeable minority may not be, however their point of view should be respected.

I'm so lucky to live in the middle of no-where and able to ignore the world when it comes to tings like the Jubilee and other people's BBQs. Can you not go out for the day boxingbig? Or for a walk, boat ride, stroll along the beach , take a pck lunch and go for a train ride. Anything to get away from the neighbours!
Contrary to daffy -- our little village has organised 3 days of cracking events covering all ages. The community centre has has been working for months on this. Each day for those who would rather not participate at the centre there are outings by coach to a venue .These trips are booked up solid , so there must be many people who want to do some thing different on the Bank holiday without feeling "Jubileed."
