I am sometimes being charged 2 or 3 times for the same text message, as in following example costing 36p:
24/05/2012 20:38:28 TMO Network SMS Mobile Off_VM 1 Events £0.12
24/05/2012 20:38:22 TMO Network SMS Mobile Off_VM 1 Events £0.12
24/05/2012 20:38:13 TMO Network SMS Mobile Off_VM 1 Events £0.12
Is it because of the length of the message; if so, how many characters am I allowed before a further charge is made please?

from the t-mobile web site - If your text is more than 160 characters long it'll be sent as two or more messages - so it pays to keep it short and sweet
Generally speaking its about 160 characters but I think it will also depend on which phone you have.
Many handets will show on the display somewhere how many texts it needs to link together to send your message.

Many thanks for your replies
Cost of a text wont depend on the 'phone but the service provider
oh and if T-Mobile charge you 12p per text you need a new service
ojread2. "Cost of a text wont depend on the 'phone but the service provider" I was referring to the amount of characters per message, not the cost., of course that also be down to the service provider.
I'd have thought the number of characters was an industry standard; isn't it ? The technical definitions will define a maximum number of characters that can be sent in one message, and the method for tying multiple messages together to form a single text on your handset would be much the same on all the commercially available equipment.
LOL, Ratter, I thought you might be, but just making sure in case that wasn't what you meant =)
