It was an ancestor my great grandmother
Sewed the new lining in for each monarch ?
Had the same size head as the monarch & so acted as a model for re-sizing ?
Is it anything to do with your great grandmother and the household cavalry?
Made lightweight replica?

'sunny dave got it... Each time a new monarch is crowned the linings are changed My Great grandmother was given the task locked in a strongroom witth just her sewing kit... she was allowed to keep the old velvets I made them into ballgowns for my sisters barbie dolls.... my mum went ballistic

Our current Queen... Great Grandma was a dressmaker to one of the ladies of the 'inner circle' and was recommended for the job....
