Ann...."what is good for the goose is good for the gander"......the NHS is a public sector with public sector employees, unions with rules in which strike action is a legal and a well used method of negotiation open to all.
So why not the doctors?
My personal view.......yes, to support my colleagues, I would withdraw my services to all except emergencies. No government has in the past or will in the future refuse to give in to the doctors.......it is a political pawn,State run and too valuable too upset the electorate.
Also my personal view.......doctors, nurses and all ancillary NHS workers are already overpaid and have a good deal in the NHS not offered by the private sector or seen in any other country.
Just my views you understand.

They won't get much sympathy, even though, as doctors, they remain respected by the public. They constitute almost the highest paid sector in work today, higher paid than any except directors of quoted companies. Other professions have higher paid individuals; lawyers can be on millions; but the average pay is far less in their line of work, whereas every GP on a standard NHS contract is highly paid
