I watched TOTP2 last night and The Goodies were on doing The Funky Gibbon.
I know a lot of songs and TV shows do not age well, but i always found the Goodies to be utterly unfunny at the time, and surely no-one could even raise a smile at this turgid tosh.
As Mark Radcliffe said with thypical dry wit - "You had to be there ... but probably best that you weren't!"
It wasn't particularly funny but there was something quite lovable about it and as old geezer says it did make you smile from time to time.
I remember the Saturday Night Fever episode and the giant kitten sketch were a couple that did raise a smile or two.
There was a panel show that Graham Garden appeared on, I can't remember what it was called, I think it was shown in the nineties and I was quite impressed with his quick wit!
Thankyou. Perhaps someone will now start a Monty Python Sketch. And I'll
start with the 'dead parrot sketch' and the lumberjack song.' I like silly
humour! On another thread of course, wouldn't want to hijack andy-hughes post!
I saw last night too and the song was always crapola but the Goodies used to make me laugh till I cried - especially the giant kitten.
They don't now but it was all part of growing up.
Don't find some of The Goodies stuff very funny but Kitten Kong is hilarious! Monty Python is much better in the silly humour category, and The Goon Show was brilliant.
