Went to the family christening today, all of us suitably suited and booted (kids looked gorgeous and behaved like angels). Thanks to everyone who suggested outfits, etc. (Even played a blinder with the present - my niece's room has a Winnie the Pooh theme (as I found out today) and I had bought her a silver Eeyore money box). On the down side, both my dad and sister cried on me, my brother nearly cried on me and two uncles and one aunt blanked me - but apart from that it was nice.
Glad you had a good time at your niece's christening....will be a great memory in years to come....lovely thought for the present too as she loves Winnie The Pooh.....dad and sister crying on you must have been a highlight lol..... As for your 2 uncles and one aunt....their loss .... so overall a great day i'd say.
Congratulations to you, your family and your lovely niece, sherrardk.
Hi Sherr. Glad all went well.....apart from the blanking! Happens though. My favourite uncle blanked me for years. Found out last month my ma had told him a terrible lie about me. He died last year. What a hit with the present though. Bet you were chuffed.x
Hi both - was well cuffed that my present turned out to be 'just the thing'. As for the blanking, I was quite pleased one of the uncles didn't talk to me as he is a bit of a leech! The crying was all due to the fact that this was the first happy family thing since my mother died (the only other thing we have all been present at since she died was my grandfather's funeral). It was lovely and my niece is absolutely gorgeous (almost makes me broody!).
Hi RR - it was very informal but myself and my sisters looked like fish out of water (the priest tried to be kind and put us at our ease but that only drew more attention to us!). It's was a bit odd as there was no singing though.
I've never heard a hymn at a Catholic baptism Sherr, they are quite informal affairs these days, fortunately! And, the don't tend to go on too long, I've got one to go to at the end of the month.
