Where do Seagulls go to die?

Given the number of live Seagulls you see can anyone explain why you very rarely see a dead one anywhere? Is it the case that they are scavenged quickly or perhaps fly out to sea to die? If anyone has the answer please let me know.

I think your right, they go out to sea to die. I'm sure there is an old wives tale somewhere saying you'll never see a seagull at sea, but if you do its there to die.

Off the shores of Sigri in the North East Aegean sea is a small island..Nissiopi Island. They say the island is the place where seagulls go to die. Nobody really knows why the birds choose this as their final resting place. Perhaps it is the isolation and openness to the seas they spend their lives flying over and feeding from, perhaps it is just a quiet place which remains mostly undisturbed by human or animal for not much could live on this barren land open to the elements. A myth.
Seagulls are supposed to be the souls of dead sailors.
This is probably also a myth.

I live near the sea and there are plenty of them out there but not to die ...They are following fishing boats in the hope of a tasty morsel !

I live in Aberdeen and you very often see them on the road having been run over. But I suppose it's like most animals, they seem to seek solitude when they die, I always find that terribly sad. How often do you see any dead animal or bird if it hasn't been run over or killed by something else?

When I was in New Zealand I saw heaps of dead guys washed up on the beaches.
