I have a HP PSC 1510 all in one. I went to print something this morning and it seemed to get ready to do it then everything has started flashing including the on off button. I can't turn it off manually at the on off button but can turn it off by unplugging it. I try to do it again and the same thing happens. I've tried both photocopying and printing from computer but it does it for both. Any ideas?

Do the ink levels need checking? Or is there something stuck in the print queue?
Question Author
Ink levels are fine how do I know if there's something stuck in the print queue? Do you mean a piece of paper? I last printed last night and nothing got jammed.
Have you added paper and not shut the drawer properly. We have HP all in one, not the same model but there is a window that says if there is a problem and ok button flashes. Again an obvious one would be to check ink levels as Mosaic suggested.

I don't know where to check ink levels but the page last printed was fine. The printer 'connects' to the computer as I hear a connexion bleep but then the printer starts flashing and I hear the bleep which means it's disconnected.

When i press the on button and hold it I get a connexion and HP tell me it's ready then there's a beep and pop up to say it's disconnected.
Have you checked the instruction book under 'faults' or 'problems'?
Sorry I can't offer an answer, but the is a lot of useful information on the HP site :-

Yes, just wondering if I need to replace the USB cable... that's all it suggests really????
Check your printer on your computer for a pile up of docs to be printed.
Whilst I have Not been able to identify the cause of your problem, I have been thinking of what personally I would do in a similar position. I am confident that my approach would not make matters any worse than what they are at present.

1) Switch-off electrical power to the printer .

2) Remove Ink Cartridges

3) Dis-connect Printer from Computer.

4) Insert into Computer the original disc which came with the printer and follow 'on-screen' instructions to reprogramme the Printer.

Hopefully you will then establish what is causing the problem, which I am beginning to think could be an ink cartridge issue. Is there any indication that ink levels are low?. Have you replaced cartridges since having the Printer? etc.

It probably is just out of ink. If all else fails, uninstall printer off computer and then reinstall it.
How's the printer Coccinelle - I've been out since this morning so couldn't dip in. To check if anything is queuing for the printer, go to 'start' and then depending on your OS you'll see something like 'control panel' or 'devices and printers' - find the printer from these choices. Click on the printer icon to open it up, and you will get a window showing what the printer is printing. If this is empty, then nothing is stuck in the queue - but at least you'll know where it is for future.

I've been working all day so just seen your posts. Thank you. I can't see why it would be the ink cartridges as what I printed last night was fine. I usually see myself when ink cartridges need to be changed due to quality of printed pages. I mananged to print off a page (which was in 'a queue') this morning by holding in the on/off button but it won't let me do that now. I'm thinking of doing that vivandorron to see if something comes up and if not it's out for a new printer...
It's incredible how many of my electrical appliances have needed to be replaced this year....
Happened to me today as I was printing from dongle and accidently pulled the print usb instead of the dongle.

Unplugged the printer which re-set itself & continued to print backed up docs awaiting printing.
