Does anybody else think that the Diamond Jubilee has been overdone and should not be mentioned again.

It gave a lot of pleasure to many people there are people for whom the Royal family mean a lot more than a bit of pomp and pageantry so why not let them celebrate, there is little enough to be pleased about these days
Not at all. Moments in history need to be fully recorded and I for one had a jolly good time
I am a Royalist.....yes it did go on a bit.....perhaps two or three days maximum would have been more appropriate in my opinion.

\\\\should not be mentioned again. \\\

C'mon..... that's a bit over the top isn't it?
GB had a party. Lots of celebrations and, apart from the weather, showed that we still have it.

I understand the view of the anti's but tell me another nation that could of done the whole pomp and pagentry better.

I think it brilliant that we can celebrate our Queen and our nation in such a way.

I love the way the Yanks celebrate their flag and nation, we should do it more.
With a bit of luck we will be doing it again in another 10 years
What will the Jubilee be called in 10 years time? I can easily see the Queen making that date.
It's an important event-both for the queen due to her longevity on the throne, but for the nation as it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most people.
What's a newspaper?
yes, and I look forward to celebrating her 100th.
think my liver will need 10 years to recover!! Think it's platinum next up
Not really.

I wasn't overly interested so I chose to ignore it. This invovled changing TV channels to something I'd rather watch (or off altogether) and flicking through the first lot of pages of the papers to get to the rest of the news.

It really wasn't that hard.
yeah, but you can multitask, EB. Other people find it easier to write letters of protest to AB, which I'm sure the royal family and assorted newspaper editors are reading avidly.
Not overdone for me ..enjoyed it and I'm not particularly Royalist....the only bad part for me was people moaning about it.....Any one who didn't like it should have just ignored it..not difficult...I hate Tennis which takes up two weeks at Wimbledon but I never see a Ball Served...:-)
No
it was all brilliant, roll on the next one
Oh no. It was a magical weekend. It gave loads of people a real lift in these so often gloomy times. Roll on the next Jubilee!
Naah.
Not that I'm any great patriot but anything that can unite this (generally speaking) whingey, miserable country in a party party mood - young, old, patriotic, not so patriotic, has got to be good ...eh?
I'm surprised Clive penn hasn't contributed to this thread
