Saw this on the news earlier and thought I'd post it as I know there are quite a few sufferers on here and those who know people who suffer with it just as an interest piece to show some of the progress being made in treatment.

Hope everyone is doing ok and not suffering too much.

I have been on Gold(Myocrisin) Injections since 1979,they are so good for me I would hesitate to try anything else.
Thanks for this Jenna, I will have a good read.................
I'll have a look at that Jenna, atm my arthritis is not too bad, controlled with paracetamol, but boy when it decides to take hold nothing will shift the pain except heat and rest. I can't find what triggers it. I've held off going to the docs. The last time it was physio then a referrral to the hospital for a hip replacement, now the other hip is acting up, including my ankles and wrists on a bad day. This new drug seems like the answer to it all.
i am starting that drug next month, so ill let you all know
Good post by Jenna.

Please note it is for Rheumatoid Arthritis NOT Osteo-Arthritis and itis for the advanced stage of R.A in patients who cannot tolerate Methotrexate
That is interesting, I take Methotrexate but luckily have no problems with it.

You're welcome. Be good to hear how you're getting on bednobs, hope it's great for you :)

I'm still waiting to see what I end up on after sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine issues. Am guessing methotrexate as it's been mentioned a few times and at my last appointment.

Interestingly enough I met my cousin's new lady earlier for the first time and she has inflammatory arthritis and we had a great chat about that and drugs and such. She is on methotrexate and said it's fantastic and really helped her which has given me a lot of hope and a bit of a new perspective as it was the one I was always wary of taking.

It was so good to speak to someone face to face who understands what it's like (don't think I ever have met anyone before in person like that, knowingly anyway) and gave me such a boost seeing how she has managed to get more back to normal with the help of meds.

It's prompted me to chase up going to a special patient education morning at my rhumo centre, meet other more people with similar conditions.

Physio going well too, really liking the accupuncture :)
