I accidentally knocked a glass of lager over the keyboard of my notebook last night. I immediately turned it upside down and tried to remove the lager with a damp cloth.
It is working but some of the keys are still a bit sticky. Would it do any damage if I sprayed some WD40 on it?

What do you mean by sticky?
Do you mean they are sticky to touch or do they stick when you use them?
If its just sticky to the touch, then just clean them ie. cd cleaning fluid or furniture polish sprayed on a cloth, and then put your finger in the cloth and clean each key (or use keyboard wipes)
If its sticking when you use them, then don't go spraying any...

If its sticking when you use them, then don't go spraying any more liquid onto/into the keyboard. They might come ok after repeated use.

The problem is not just your keyboard but if liquid gets under the keyboard and into the electronics of the notebook it can stop it working.
In fact "sugery" liquid can also rot the internals causing long term damage.
About 10 years ago I spilt a bowl of milky corn flakes on my laptop and it never worked right again (luckily it was a work one).
Ever since then I have always kept food and drink WELL awya from any computer or laptop.
A good rule to keep is NEVER eat or drink near your computer.

DO NOT spray it with WD40 !! - that will probably get into everything and short out connections, it may also melt plastic parts.
There is a good chance the keyboard part of your notebook is available as a whole separate unit and can be popped out and replaced for not too much money. If I were you, I'd leave the whole thing open and upside down on a towel overnight.
