i have a brick garage on a concrete base which is slightly wider than the garage, the result being that water landing on the concrete is seeping into the garage. i am open to suggestions as to how i can prevent this problem.thanks in anticipation'
I did just as tony suggests with the addition applying a coat of diluted PVA to the area where I was putting the fillet, just make sure the PVA is still wet when you do it to ensure a good seal. I also added some plasterers waterproofer to the mix, not sure that was entirely necessary though.
Worked a treat!
Fuggy, you're never going to cure this properly without major surgery (chopping the "extra" concrete off on the outside with a Kango)
The other guys have given you the only thing you can do to reduce it.
Think about laying a polythene membrane over the floor, turned up the sides as well, then lay 100mm of concrete over that to raise the floor.
