When the two captains toss up at the beginning of a Test match can the one who wins the toss delay his choice whether to bat or bowl be delayed, because he thinks that the imminent bad weather could affect his decision?? Thanks!!

The toss is never completed until all agree that the game will start. Therefore a captain cannot delay their decision. The toss for this match did not take place until this morning despite the game officially starting 2 days ago.

They don't even exchange team lists and toss until the weather improves and a start time is imminent - usually about 20 mins before the revised time for start of play.

At that point the winner of the toss has to make a decision and stick to it.
So (at Edgbaston today) we still don't know which of the fast bowlers will be playing for England when the match eventually starts.
