Could someone please tell me the technical name for the card that fits in laptop with memory card from phone, so that I can download photos heard there is such a thing but don't know what to order.

A lot of laptops have memory card reader slots in them now. You might need a memory card adapter like this

Depends on what goes into your phone. If you've bought a separate memory card you sometimes get the adapter as well.

You want an SD card adapter, which looks like a regular size SD card, but you slide a mini SD card (which you use in your phone) into this adapter, and then fit the adapter with mini-SD card inside into your laptop's card reader slot to transfer photos.
