On a scale of 1 to 10, how bedwettingly pathetic are the Post Office being here?

I saw that in another paper - if the paving actually is dangerous due to moss and slime, not just "the road is wet" - I think they are not entirely wrong.
Just to balance things up here (I work as a postman) in December 2010 when we had the very harsh winter conditions -(-5 max on some days here in the Midlands )- our delivery network kept going every working day throughout December . Airports closed , private delivery networks closed , news bulletins advised people to stay in unless essential , but our delivery network kept going . Please remember that .
The next thing we'll hear is they will stop deliveries when the sun shines in case the postmen gets sunburnt.

As much as I feel sorry for the fella in the article, Our postman never fails to deliver flyers from Farmfoods, BT, Virgin media and all sorts of drivel that's not wanted, it must be a weight off his shoulder to get rid of them.
I did think of that argorstran when I read the item in the paper this morning. Years ago Postmen, Dustbin men and all the utilities kept on working in vile weather, Dustmen humping the bins on their backs to carry to the waiting van. Postmen carrying large sacks of post. No complaints from anyone that I was aware of then, but no Elf 'n Safety to worry about then either. Have to say though, for the amount of money they charge now the Postal service should tighten up and get their act in order. Are there facilities to report the unsafe pathways etc. to Local Council Street services Department
So if postmen slip on this pavement and are off work for an extended period how much is that going to cost us? If the businesses are so concerned, instead of vleating to the Daily Mail they should get and power washer and make the pavement safe in half an hour. I remember when householders and businesses used to sweep and wash in front of their premises, now if it is diety we just moan.
A few typos in that, I'll try again...

pathetic, but i have come to expect that i am afraid.
our post system has gone to pot, i no longer rely on Royal Mail. i think that for too long the postal system has been down graded, my post the few times i get some is often ripped, or in some cases has been opened, i know that by looking at the envelopes, and the content. I had complained before, but was ignored.

I didn't see much sign of moss and algae on the path - moreover, is it even possible for moss and algae to grow on a well trodden stone path?
absolutely agree - i was expecting to see pics of an uphill country road all covered in slimey moss etc! ..

its one incident...people slip all the time but odnt refuse to carry on

they need to invest in some proper walking boots for their staff

id be furious
arksided... posties deliver mail only

leaflets etc come from other sources
whats going to happen when it snows?
imagine businesses aren't too pleased. I wonder at our country, when you get these types of excuses, it's not limited to the post service. I was amazed when the whole of the London Bus service was stopped when it snowed one day. Not one bus going anywhere. For heavens sake they kept them running in the blitz, so why did Boris feel it necessary to stop them from running, quite pathetic.
joko, that was a bit spooky...
