A good foundation from Boots or somewhere similar

I'm never happy with foundation to be honest. Can anyone recommend a good one that looks like I've got foundation on and stays on!?
Thanks

If you were nearby she'd send you some samples. The thing with Avon is that if it doesn't suit you can send it back for a full refund.
Daughter is "milk bottle" pale so she uses light pink. Next shade up is Ivory, then shell, nude, creamy natural and natural beige. Those are the six shades recommended for fair complexions. Hope this helps

Yeah I have used Clinque tinted moisturiser, it was ok but wouldn't say it stayed on.
I recently bought Lancome Teint Idole Ultra or something like that but it's very pale and I don't like the finish - wouldn't buy it again.
I bought a Benefit playstick foundation thing that was awful!
I've just ran out of MAC studio sculpt foundation which was a gel texture (I have been mixing this with the Lancome).
I am pale but I put a little bit of Garnier body lotion on sometimes at night so it gives me a subtle colour the next day.
I would say my skin tone is pale, I've got freckles and pinky colouring in my cheeks naturally until I cover them with foundation.
I have dyed red hair, it's naturally mid/dark brown.
Thanks everyone for the advice, who would have thought buying foundation would be so awkward. I don't mind what I spend so long as it's good. Rather that than wasting it on all sorts.
I've got an Avon lady in work, I can always ask her for some samples to get the right colour for that foundation.
My husband always rolls his eyes when I tell him I need a new one lol.

The next foundation I'm getting is Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation
All the reviews I've read for it are extremely positive. On special at Boots now-but I will probably order from Ebay,as it's cheaper there.
