Maybe this should be in crosswords but here goes.

I just had a thought that someone like Araucaria might be lurking on here in disguise. He/they might be chuckling away at those of us who find his/their croswords challenging.

Who might be a crossword compiler in disguise?

The Listener compiler often has a look at the Listener thread each week to make sure no-one is giving answers away but they are in disguise so we don't know who they are!

Are we not drifting away from the point of Tilly2's question somewhat? The point is: who (on AB) might be a crossword compiler in disguise? Perhaps a few cover names could be put forward?

tilly - they use their "listener compiler" name eg Oyler

When I was working, every lunch time a few of us would sit and do the Guardian crossword, there was a groan if it was Araucaria or another compiler, Paul I think.
