further update on stray kits
11 Answers
regarding the stray cat and kits that i told you about last week, the mother cat took her kits away but came back here for food so i don't think she went far, then on Sunday we were told that a black cat had been killed on the road, when 'our' stray did not come looking for food Sunday night we feared the worst, we spent the next few days searching and asking everyone else to search, by Thursday she still had not come for food, we had given up hope and felt pretty bad about it, then tonight the mum turned up again, so the kitties are safe, but we still don't know where they are.

I hope that mummy cat manages to rear her babies without a problem. If you can get in touch with a rescue place they might be able to come out and catch the family and arrange for them to be rehomed or neutered and released.

It is nice that you are looking out for her cecil - may people see feral cats as pests. The kittens make excellent companions/pets if caught young enough. Mum can be caught, neutered and released and she will not be permanently pregnant for the rest of her life.
Good luck to you and your little furry friends.

that was my first thought when we found them wolf, it would have been easy to just pick them up then, and set a trap to catch the mum, best laid plans and all that, it may still happen, hopefully. and yes some people have a hatefull attitude towards feral cats ( or any cats if it comes to that ) one woman said "oh them B things always live, they don't need no help" even though i had just told her how tiny and helpless they are.
the fiercest of the 3 kittens , when my son finally caught her hung on to his hand using just her teeth he still has the marks 14 years on , she was hissing and spitting thought we would never tame her , she is at the moment purring and helping me type this she turned out to be the most faithful loving little cat anyone could wish for , good luck cecil xx
Cecil, all my 8 cats were strays I rescued them all as kittens and caught the mothers , had them neutered then carried on feeding them in the field. As soon as mum cat thinks kittens are old enough she will bring them to feed from you. Strays make super companions, one of mine is blind due to infection before I found her, another has one eye, both know every corner of the house and garden. Well done for feeding the mum cat and giving her the help to rear her kittens.
