selling quality clothes from home.

Hello everyone. Can you advise re: the above.

I do not want to vist/sell from car boot, no disrespect. I want to set up something where local people can come along 3/4 times a month to my apartment and choose very good quality clothes as they wish.

Has anyone done something similiar?
What are your thoughts

Yes, I agree not allowed to sell from home, however, this is very short term. I am renting my property in few months so its really to offload some really good clothes/bags/shoes etc. No room to go with me to new apartment.
I would prob only need to do it over 2 months.

What I am struggling with is a short and simple name to advertise with.

Why can't you use your home as a business?
Of course you can do that but for people to visit you would need permissions and the right licences etc from your local authority
You use the word apartment, so are you in the US? Rules will be different there and this is a UK site

Sell on eBay, very effective. Saves people trekking through your home, and gives you a much wider audience. Listing on eBay is free today, too!

You didn't ask us about a name in your OP, you asked if anyone has done it - no, selling from home means you are using your home as a business, you'd need permissions for that.

I'd go with eBay as well, Box
Simple, really and people look out for good quality, low priced items on there all the time

The only problem with eBay is the post and packing. And of course the visit to the post office with the parcels. And make sure you are paid before you post it. Straightforward selling from the house or the back of the car is much easier and more direct. If you have a garage space you could have a garage sale. My neighbour printed off some notelets saying what time and date her garage sale would be and then went round putting them through letterboxes and also put them up in the local shops and the nearby high rise flats. Her sale was very successful. Let us know what you decide, it sounds very interesting.

What about offloading your stuff to a dress agency on a sale or return basis?

Those things aren't any problem, starby - you just factor them into the cost of your P&P on the items. People can always collect if they leave near enough.

You'd get a wider audience on ebay, I wouldn't go to a private house because I'd feel pressured to buy something.

My friend started a business from home but soon had to rent a shop, too many people said (like prudie) that they wouldn't visit a private house to go shopping.

From a safety point of view, how would you know they are interested in just buying what you have to sell and not eyeing up the premises. I personally would not want to invite complete strangers into my home.

There are loads of Facebook groups for my area that are for people buying and selling things. You post photos of what you are selling then other users ask to come and look/buy. No cost to you at all. Have you considered something like that.
