Reservations about feeding a community website to twitter and facebook

I am a contributer to a local community website - used for primary school activities, women's group, community hall activities etc etc - and the admins have themselves decided to feed the contributions posted (including photos, events etc) to Facebook and Twitter. I am not entirely happy with this, even though I use both of these social media myself. I am concerned about loss of editorial control - I will not be able to delete blog posts I made to the site, so I am reluctant to contribute further. Is Facebook and Twitter the way to go, or am I right to have reservations???

Facebook groups can have selected administrators and only those people can edit posts made on there so as long as you are one of them then you can edit things.

With the twitter feed, would it not just contain links to the appropriate page on the existing website?
Question Author
No I am not one of the administrators. So if I pop some event, photo etc on the webpage, it's immediately streamed to FB and Twitter. If I then discover, oops, some of that information is incorrect or needs to be tweaked, I can't delete or undo it.
Sorry, I'm a tad confused. Can you modify entrieds on the original website?

Are the posts on Twitter and Facebook essentially just links to that site or are they completely independant posts?
Question Author
No, at the minute the website is done by contributers putting up blog posts, and until now these just remained on the website. There was no problem editing, removing posts as required. The new automatic streaming to FB and Twitter does not allow the original poster to change/delete a post. I am looking for opinions on this feeding to social media, as I am not sure it's ideal considering much of the content comes from the local primary school and whether it is appropriate/necessary for social media to be linked to the website. Maybe people on this forum have similar community websites, and I would value their opinion on the vale (or otherwise) of feeding to social media.
Anyone who has a FB account is be able to delete anything they post on it. Same with twitter
You have control over what is seen, whether you are in a private or public group

Why do you think you wont be able to delete things?
Question Author
Because I am not an administrator of either the facebook or twitter account linked to the website. I can only contribute to the website by blog post, but admin has told all contributers that they can no longer delete or edit their posts when streamed to the social media
Doesn't matter - if you're in the group you will be able to delete anything you write on it
when you say 'blogg post' what do you mean?

Where is the blogg written?
Question Author
Thank you all for that. I have tried to delete a test post that went from the website to facebook but couldnt. If i want to change or delete something, I have to email the admin, wait till he gets home from work tonight, and when he gets time he will edit or delete as required.
You really shouldn't have to do that at all
In fact, I know you shouldn't have to
I don't know where you are posting your blogg to have it made public in this group but look at the setting son that
You own your posts, being an or not admin makes no difference on FB as to whether or not you can remove something you wrote - I've just tested it
This site goes to twitter & facebook but we retain anonimity, else I'd begone
Question Author
Sorry, I missed the question about blog posts. The community website has a section called "News and Events", and contributers are able to add to this on the site by creating a blog post. They can log in using their email and password, and create a post, then select which area of the site it belongs to e.g youth club news, news and events, women's institute section etc. We were not party to the decision about FB and Twitter, but are being told that we since feeds to social media is introduced, we can no longer edit or delete our own contributions, but need to contact Admin to do so.
Question Author
I have just checked the facebook account linked to the website. When I post on the website, my name comes up as the contributer. On the linked FB page, my post comes up as "XXX Community hall posted a link", where I am no longer the contributer.
Right, I think I'm with you now
This is not FB you are bloggin on, is it?
The blogg site has been synced with FB to post everything written on the blogg site, to be posted there
You should still be able to remove your posts via FB though
Question Author
Thank you for that. Yea, I'm only blogging on the website, and it's going to FB and Twitter. Admin sent all contributers an email to say "If you post something to the website it will then appear on our facebook and twitter pages. You will not be able to delete it. So if you need to delete a page or post from the facebook or twitter page please let me know and I can remove it". Firstly I have responded to him requesting clarification for all posters, and secondly I resent not being able to edit/change/delete posts myself. I just don't see the need to stream to FB and Twitter, even though I use these selectively myself. Thanks to everyone for opinions on this.
OJ, that's not right. If someone creates a FB group they can list admin members and they are the only ones who have control over all posts made on there. Not everybody can go on and edit any post. Unless the blog posts have come from the OP's own facebook account then she won't have any control over them.
Evian, I'm not wrong

I belong to several FB groups, both private and open, and I can remove any post I make within those groups. I've a group of my own where I am sole admin and I cannot set any settings whereby individual posters cannot remove their posts
"Not everybody can go on and edit any post."

That is not what I said
"Unless the blog posts have come from the OP's own facebook account then she won't have any control over them."

And if you go back and re-read my reply you will see that is what I said
