Lap top locks half way though system restore

My lap top had a virus so my friend thought it would be a good idea to system restore, but then turned it off half way though ! Have a restore disc but it get's to a point then locks up ? I have a copy of xp but no idea how to get my lap top working again ? please can someone help me !

tut tut, never turn a pc off while doing something like a restore, come to think of it, dont to a restore, it's useless, your best bet is to do a full system format, then install a fresh copy of windows from scratch.
