Has any religious person ever seriously wondered why their idol would have bothered to create Earth and all its sinning and questioning minions? It surely would have made more sense to create the planet's creatures without fault so he could enjoy his creation!

Yes, And after thousands of years of human existence, why do we not see the peaceful, prosperous and happy world that people everywhere long for? Not just humility, but reality and honesty oblige us to admit that it is because all men are imperfect. The fault lies, not just with those who rule, but also with those who are ruled. That is why human efforts to make this earth a joyful home for all mankind fall so far short of what God promises by means of his own rulership. The Bible, in the prophecy of Jeremiah, says about this: “To earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is Iwalking even to direct his step.”(Jer 10:23)

Goodlife, I had a Jehovah’s Witness at my door this morning. She told me God doesn’t kill people, and then went on to tell me how he killed all the Egyptians who allegedly gave chase after the Hebrews were freed from captivity. Contradictory – yes indeed – but I didn’t mention all the first born he killed during the same struggle, or the time that is coming when all the non-believers are going to be zapped out of existence. No point - she just wasn’t listening.

One of the main components causing the problem is religious conflict. Of all the problems we face the intransigence of religious belief is clearly the most intractable.
Despite what the faithful would have us believe the world has never been as peaceful as it is today. Man continues to work at resolving the issues we face. Science continues to plug away at the problems while the concept of God has given us nothing but grief.
The Abrahamic religions offer nothing but fascist philosophy, mayhem and destruction.
