I just bought grapes from a supermarket and they are so hard and unripe. I bought some Nectarines which were reduced for quick sale. They were like bullets. are all fruits in supermarkets just there for their long shelf life

If you've ever eaten exotic fruits in their native country you would know they bear no resemblance to the plastic fruit on offer in supermarkets. Their nutrient content is zero.
I bought some (supposedly) English strawberries from a supermarket today. They were completely tasteless. I think they must have been "forced" as they are in the US. In the US you get really lovely looking fruit but it doesn`t taste of anything. I think our supermarkets are going the same way. Another good reason to avoid..
I don't think it's the case with ALL supermarkets. Out of many taste tests with fruits, I've picked up that Asda isn't the best place to go for fruit. Namely Asda's mango pieces - although you do get a lot in the pack, these are really underripe and tasteless. I haven't tasted all supermarkets' mango pieces but I've found Sainsbury's, M&S' and Tesco's ones far superior. Nearly every week (or near enough that) I buy mango pieces from Sainsbury's - I seriously can't get enough of them!!
