The one with red sauce which is a little sweet to taste. I love it with poppadums and was wondering if anyone had a good home recipe so that I can make some at home.

I bought a little pot of it from Asda the other week but it wasn't very nice so thought a nice, fresh homemade one would be much nicer.

I have some good World Food supermarkets nearby if any more authentic ingredients are required.

Thank you :)

Is it a hot relish?
Question Author
Not really hot, little bit of a kick but more sweet. It has proper bits of chopped onion in a sweet red sauce. I LOVE it :)
hmm i have never had that - the onion "relish" in our indians down here is just onions!
the only red one i've ever had is really really blow your head away hot...... we get the same as bedknobs - just onions! x

It is bits of onion, just in a sauce, not too hot (well, depending on who has made it as it varies). I have some tomato and chill sauce (more for pasta though) I was thinking of adding some sugar too but I don't think it will come out as well!
We get a hot red dip with chopped raw onion and mint served separately. Why don't you ask the restaurant you usually get it in? I find they don't mind sharing recipes etc.
Agree wit the others still - our local ones serve just an oniony relish. Try asking them what they put in it??
