I discovered my husband is a bigimist.
Now I know my husband is a bigimins (with a baby), I want to divorce him but he is abroad. Do I need to have his signature to divorce him and where do I stand where our mortgage is still in joint names? (I have paid the mortgage on my own since we separated). Thank you :-)

If you know bigamy has taken place, which comes under s57 of the offences against the person act 1861, go to the police with what proof you have. You may find the mortgage provider may not release the other party as at the moment they have two people whom they can pursue if payments are not made and may not want this reduced. If you can show you have paid the mortgage on your own for some time this may help with convincing the mortgage provider of your ability to pay, they may however require agreement from the other party, talk to them.

I found out my husband committed bigamy and I went to the police. Are you the first wife?
As your husband is abroad you dont specify if he's living/working it may be difficult also if he has married abroad depending on where he may not be a bigamist as you are able to do that. I would contact the police and seek there advice but try to do some research like if you know the area in uk where marriage took place contact that local registry office I would imagine it would be a church wedding if it wasnt abroad as the registry office always ask to see a decree absolute. good luck
