How about EXITED, with the definition being LEFT (Exit for out and ed being the back(last letters) of some and head ?

Yes. JA. The word 'some' refers to the 'ITE' of the word 'spitefully, wiith just the 'D' of the word 'Head'. My wordplay was not quite right :-))
