59 year old lady, having problems when emptying my bladder. Doesn't hurt until the very last couple of seconds. Been on antibiotics since Monday but they don't seem to have had any effect. Any ideas pse??
Started swimming for exercise last week, 20 - 30 lengths of a 25 metre pool 3 times a week - could it be the pool chemicals??

Sounds as if the bug is resistant to the antibiotic prescribed. Did the GP send a urine sample off to the lab? You need to check you're on the correct a/b asap.
Did you give the Dr a sample to send away ..might be your not on the right antibiotics or that it isnt an infection.
I would go back and see Gp may need investigating further.
Hope that helps!

yes - had to do a MSU sample before I started taking the tablets. Unfortunately I have to wait until Tuesday when the nurse led result clinic is open to discover the outcome!
Not enough information.....I presume that you have no vaginal discharge.

If you have.....then ignore my post.

If you haven't....then yes, there is a chance that it could be the chemicals in the pool, particularly if the MSU comes back negative.

Report back.
in the meantime drink plenty of water. You can also dissolve a level teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a half pint of water and drink..it tastes strange but can be very soothing when it gets to your bladder.
Don't mess about with something like this..see your Doctor AGAIN . It's probably not serious but you cannot afford to take chances. Go and see your GP PLEASE!!

Drinking gallons and peeing loads - will ring the Drs on Monday for another emergency appt. Thanks all.
I think you are supposed to drink cranberry juice for wee infections. Might be worth trying. Good luck with it and I hope you're better soon!

Been back to see GP today. MSU was clear but she thinks the problem might be hormone related - or rather lack of them - cos of me age!! Got some 'stuff' to try to see if it eases the problem. Will report back in a few days!
