It'll be the same if you buy insurance in Tesco or any supermarket chain, or almost any bank, or with the company that makes your new car. If you read the small print it says which insurer is providing the insurance. Aviva is a very big insurance company, but one which happens to advertise a lot and is well known to the public. Chances are, you'll never have heard of the other insurers these companies and banks place the insurance with. They are all placing the insurance out because they are, in effect, insurance agents but ones who are contracted to one provider.
Co-op, AA, Supermarkets, Banks, Building Societies, Post Office, etc
None of these are Insurance Companies, just acting as brokers and hoping to take full advantage of your trust and loyalty to them, buy suggesting you buy through them.
Better deals to be had if you compare widely and regularly, but Aviva are one of the top names - used to be called Norwich union.
hi Maidup- I'm wondering what makes you think the Co-op motor insurance is not their own. CIS/ Cooperative Insurance are an insurance company as far as I know
