I want to buy one of those steam iron type things, like they use in the charity shops for ironing stuff when it is on hangers.
Not sure of the name of it or the cheapest etc, any info would be helpful thank you.
Steam generator irons are the best invention, my first two were Tefal (excellent), my third is a Philips, went for cheaper as the Tefal was a bit pricey, but, Tefal knocks spots off the Philips, I'm not overly happy with it to be honest, so buy the best you can afford. Try reviews on the Argos website, they do include the crap ones.
They all look like ironing board ones to be, I have seen the hand held ones (where you run them over a garment which is hanging on a hanger) at the Idela Home Show but that's the only place I have seen them.
Intrigued by your answer RockyR!
You're on your third steam generator?!!
However long do they last?
I bought Mrs ZZ a new steam iron - and got change out of £20 - about 8 years ago and it's still going strong. OK so I'm the last of the big spenders but I do know how to treat a girl!
Michael, bought my first one about 9 years ago, but now you've said it, they obviously don't last as long as a conventional iron, they do need to be descaled etc or they will throw out dirty limescale, so the life expectancy is probably less, especially in my house, wher it gets a bit ifba hammering. Only recently bought the Philips one. I would never go back to a conventional iron now, would take to long to do the ironing.
Well I received the steam o power, but no steam came out, had to send it back, they replaced it right away, it take a ttle getting used to but it is much quicker.
