Synchronise what?
I sometimes see the option 'synchronise' on my PC, but what does it mean in computer language and when does anyone use it? Thanks.

Eh?? ^^
One simple example would be contacts on a phone, if you were to synchronise them with your email program any contacts on the phone that weren't in your email program would be copied across, and vice versa.
It's basically just automatically making sure two copies of something have the same data in them.
