This has happened to me a few times and I thought I would share it with everybody.

I get calls from "Sky" telling me that the "insurance" on my Sky Dish has run out and I should take some more out ASAP.

The last one occured yesterday. Now, I used to have Sky but cancelled my subscription 2 years ago, as most of the channels were a complete load of useless tosh. I still use the dish, however, but get my TV from their version of Freeview.

I smelt a rat with this last call, so I asked them for my Sky subscription number, as a check, but they couldn't tell me !

It turned out that they wern't Sky at all, but some other company, selling me useless insurance.

I told them that if they called me again, I would call the Police, and then put the 'phone down.

Beware of this scam...it just another one going the rounds !

We had that one about three months ago, mikey. We knew our insurance wasn't due for renewal so we said no thank you. We then rang Sky to tell them. They weren't particularly interested, I have to say.
If they ring again, ask them where they got your number? The one who rang me said they got it from sky because they did their contract work. I said fine I will tell sky you are in breach of the data protection act and are stealing data...phone went down quick!
My skybox is about 10 years old and I still get told the insurance has run out - never took it out in the first place so told them all to bugger off!!!
