oh we had a really good one here in 1990, a couple were murdered about 500 yards from here, they were scousers and had hidden out from drug dealers up here in the woods but were found and they killed the woman, beheaded the man and burnt their bodies in their tent and chucked his head in the local nature reserve lake.
The street of terraced houses one street up from my old house had a pub, a hairdressers, a bakery, a post office, a fish and chip shop, a corner shop, an electrical shop, a vets, a working mens club, and a doctors' practice.
Dotty you are not only showing your age but also false memory syndrome. It was not a knicker shop but a high-class ladies' outfitters called Gamma Garments. Mr Papadopoulos was the owner, often mentioned but never seen, whilst Mr. Swindley was the manager. His assistant was Miss Nugent (Emily). Gail Potter (as then was) did not work there but was assistant to Elsie Tanner in a much more down-market establishment called Miami Modes.
(Wonder if I can get my Ph. D. out of all this knowledge?)

Have done some research. Gail did indeed work in a clothing shop with Suzie Birchall (Cheryl Murray). The shop was called Sylvia's Separates, owned by Mike Baldwin.
