...how are the severely worn tennis courts of Wimbledon going to be transformed for the Olympics. Short of spraying them green (like they do to the Augusta Golf Club fairways) I can't see what they can do.Any ideas.
They are going to cut out the worn parts and replace it with new turf, It will knit together in time for the Olympics. Don't forget Wimbledon's grounds men are real experts.
I read something about this recently and it seems the groundsmen have been working on this for a couple of years trying out different seed to see which one grows best. They then grow big bits and drop the whole lot in place. In a normal year they would scrape off and replace whole courts straight after the tournament. I think this has also been done with cricket wickets in the past.
