Marks & Spencer Group PLC said fashion chief Kate Bostock would leave the company following the biggest fall in quarterly sales in the division since 2008.

Surely its the HR, sorry personnel people that hired her that should go for making such a massive rickett

Some directors would have hired her at that level.
In sales, you stand or fall by your figures and the performance of your group or your team.

HR process the paperwork - they would not be responsible for the decision about who is to be employed, and especially not at her level - that would be a board level decision. And with the best will in the world, a brilliant CV demonstrating a good track record and a great series of interviews do not guarantee that the person hired will be able to perform in that particular job.

Given the drop in sales, she was obviously unable to convince the board that the poor performance had nothing to do with her and was due to outside factors - in those circumstances - she goes.

Nothing to do with HR
HR manage the paperwork and guide the recruitment process, they are not the decision makers.

Kate Bostock will know full well that her contract depends on good sales figures and nothing else. She'll pop up again somewhere just liek football managers who fail in one place but are soon taken on again elsewhere.
what I want to know is who hired these useless HR people. Sack them at once.
it doesn't help that the quality of the clothes, the fit, tailoring, leaves a lot to be desired. I can rarely find clothes to fit me, where once it was a given.
We called HR "Human Remains" - they were part of the "Crap"- Corporate Resources and Planning.
far be it from me to suggest you might have changed shape at all, em :-)
jno, i won't take that as a slight, though i haven't changed that much.
i have clothes that go back some years, can get in to no problem, similar clothes 2/3 sizes up in M&S do not fit, as too small. I think they have or are cutting corners, the sizes do not match to the label at all. Their label was my bible, now it's not.
