What is the religious reason why people object to the ordination of women?
Not being a church goer or believer or anything, I was wondering if there is something in the bible which says women can't be priests, or could be interpreted as such. Thank you.
did anyone see the beeb series on Goddesses and women in religion? Very interesting....she showed images of women as Christian priests, also images of women as Christian priests that had been altered to make them look like men.
She said on the show that the male only priesthood didn't actually start until St Augustine and his writings.
Mammy, Mammy, learnt a new word today! Mysoginistic! Know what it means, Mammy? Means wot all men were like yonks ago when they didn't like ladies. Must be true 'cos Birdie says so!
Those who condemn all others with the sweeping generalisation: "blinkered, authoritarian, uncompromising, narcissistic" do themselves fewer favours than I do myself.
Am I the only one to be concerned that Mike1111 thinks 'mysogenistic' (which, I note, he can't spell) is a word worthy of comment?
I realise he's attempting to extract the, er, Michael, from Birdie, but it's a pretty mundane word. I don't think many people would see it and think, "I know; I'll imply that using that word is a sign of someone trying to show off".
