can you tell me how many days the police have to notifie me i was told 14 days after that i do not have to pay fine

If you were caught by a hand held camera, the officer would have given you the notification verbally at the time, and there is then no need for them to follow up with a written notice. He/she should have said "You will be reported for consideration of the question of prosecuting you for exceeding a speed limit" or something similar. If that was not done, they should send you (or the registered keeper of the vehicle) a written notice within 14 days. If you were given a fixed penalty notice, the above does not apply, and it is in your interests to pay it as it is cheaper than a court hearing.

the hand held guns are not cameras are they?! As Grunty says you would have been warned at the time. The police hand held guns are there as a traffic calming measure not to catch people. i was doing 33 - 34 on a 30 mile an hour road and was "caught" by one of these hand held guns about 4 weeks ago if not longer. i was not stopped and touch wood so far i havent had owt thru the post...... i didnt half worry tho! lol.

I reckon anyone doing excessive amounts of speed will be pulled over and fined tho..

stellaqueen - you were below the tolerance level which is ten percent plus two. Most are not cameras but have a digital readout on the back, but there are some that are video cameras and can be played back to the driver. They all look like cameras when you are passing though.

fight the fine. ask to see all the various calibration papers, and proof that the pc was competent in use of the equipment. Also demand that he be present in court if you decide to go that far.

Some years ago i got off around 5 cases using these methods . there was/is web sites that give you all the info you need.
