My 80yr old neighbour called round earlier this evening with a parcel that was addressed to her that she hadn't ordered.
The name of the catalogue company is Very and she has never even heard of them.
I phoned the company on her behalf and was told by the automated reply that I would have to wait at least 10 mins before my call was answered so I put the phone down.
I've told her to leave it with me and I will try to get it sorted, so I emailed them.
I just wondered how that can happen though, receiving something addressed to you from a company you have never even heard of.
Have you heard of this happening before?
I got a bill from a mail order company at my address, for a Mr. T. Purchase. (Test Purchase). When I rang them they said they had spotted the orders and stopped them being delivered.
They do a test purchase, then go for the biggy. They then try to intercept the delivery, or knock on the door after delivery and request it back saying there was a mistake.
Sometimes when ordering from mail order companies, they ask where parcel can be left, in case you are out. Perhaps the person who ordered it, typed in to be left in a porch etc, then they could collect it without her knowing.
If it open they can say it was not in original box and once it open it could be deemed to have been accepted .Come to think of it is a company going to persue a case against an eighty year young person over canvass slippers. I wouldnt in case it got in the papers or worse still on AB
