DT His Poem

[rowanwitch]

One woud not strive to emulate
The complexities of DTs verse
For in a fair ish contest
I would come off worse
But the folk have asked me to attempt
To write for Crossword Fan
A bit of silly doggerel
To cheer them if I can
So here goes and onward
For words I’ll try a stretching
The tale of DT Crossword fan
And his dirty etching

DT is good at drawing..
Of this we are all sure
But the picture subject of this verse
Has neither roof or door
Late at night he watches
The window across the street
Where curtains hideth nothing
And his view is quite complete

He sits there sketching madly
His pencil burns the page
As his neighbour stands there naked
DT feels his age
She turns before her mirror
He sketches every curve
Something about this neighbour
Makes DTC a perv

His hand shakes as he highlights
The glow of moonlit skin
She doesn’t know he’s sitting there
Taking it all in
He sees a mole, a blemish and he
Adds each one with thought
He knows he’ll be arrested
If he ever ends up caught

He hasn’t got the courage
To ask her for a date
So he sits there ever sketching
As every night grows late
He posts his pub scenes for us
To admire and to acclaim
But we never see the picture
Of Mrs wossername

Sometimes when drawing tires him
He tries to put to words
His feelings bout his neighbour
Who is not like other birds
He parodies Keats and Browning
Shelley, Byron, more
Tries Kipling but it gives him
A sore hand and a damp floor

But maybe one day he will think
Oh what the heck and Phuket
And post his special neighbour's sketch
On tinypic or photobucket
But maybe we should worry
If it ends up thus
In case his well drawn neighbour
Turns out to be one of us
