The doctor now thinks I have gallbladder problems as well. Am waiting for blood test on thursday and ultra scan in two weeks. sqad if you are around do you think it could be gallbladder or something else. If I tell you the symptoms. stated a few months ago I had a bad pain in my right side.waist hight. lastest a couple of days and then went as quickly as it came on. It hurt to move. I did ask on here and a couple of people thought it might be muscles. However I have had it again after a few weeks. Then last week I had it again..pain in side lasted a few days and then spread across my stomach just under my ribs, really tender and seemed to spread into the bottom half. This lasted a few days and now had gone completely. I do seem to be burping a lot with it. And it felt like I was hungry but wasnt.? Sorry I have gone on but trying to describe it best I can. I would be grateful for your opinon. thankyou. Brenda x
Not enough information I am afraid as the pain does sound muscular when taken in isolation.
Do you feel "blown out"...."full up" after just starting a meal? A feeling that you have had enough to eat after perhaps a couple of mouth fulls?
Does fatty foods bring on the pain and is the pain that you describe food related or not?
Many thanks to you all. well eating doesnt seem to make any difference, we don't tend to eat much fatty food. Maybe sausages.? but dont eat them that often. I dont like milk so only have a tiny drop of skimmed milk in tea or coffee.also do not like butter ect. I just didnt feel very hungry, the top part of my stomach hurt the most last week after the pain had gone from my side.even walking seemed to hurt it. I will write down what I had to eat last week when it all started and then if/when it happens again I will see if it was that. But hope I will not get it again within two weeks before scan and results. Brenda x
Aww I hope not! Mine was upper right side under my ribs mostly and over and down a little - excruciating when the bad attacks came on and niggly inbetween and a horrible burning pain round my right shoulderblade and sometimes inbetween them and some stabbing pains in my chest from time to time. Lots of burping and feeling sick and actually being sick. Food would set it off, especially anything fatty.
Your scan could show up gallstones without them being the problem as lots of people have them without any issue so keep an open mind.
I had similarish pain (though not quite as disabling) with a stomach ulcer but that was more centralised pain at the top of my tummy and to the right a bit from what I remember and I felt very sick with it. In fact I thought the gallstones might be another ulcer or trapped wind or similar initially and my GP said the pain can come in a similar place (including hurting through into your shoulderblades). I'd get like an empty hungry feeling with it too.
kidney stones feel like a hot needle being passed through you. Gallstones as Jenna described - mine were mainly at night and the pain in the right shoulder is symptomatic......
Gallstones - prevalent in female, fat, freckled and over fifty.....(4 "F"s) and, inmy case, for dieting far too quickly - I was dieting when my ex served divorce papers out of the blue and then had a virus - shedding 30lbs in a month....
Thankyou for all replies. I guess I will have to wait and see. I keep thinking it isnt that but I suppose the doctor maybe didnt know as well so just decided to narrow things down, I will let you know the outcome in a few weeks when results are back. Brenda xx
Part two of - Now.....after my son-in-laws trouble with his gallbladder last year and the wedding.......
Had my blood test and ultrascan results last week and it turns out I do have some stones. But not sure if he said Gallbladder or Kidney. But he did warn me about the stones moving into my bile duct and what to do. Since I have had the last episode havnet had any since. So just hope it has all gone for a while. Brenda x
