Need to value Car for insurance - any free sites online?
9 Answers
I'm just renewing my insurance. I want to check out the insurance companies valuation of my car. I don't want a trade value as I always sell my cars privately. Is there an online database where I can get an approx value without being charged? I might have paid the £3.95 if the site had put this up front. But I object to being asked to fill in a document with all the info about my car and then being asked for money before a valuation is sent to me. I like all this kind of thing to be up front. I guess I'm just middle aged and grumpy. Thanks everyone.

Errrm, no it doesn't
Just search for a car the same or very similar to yours and see what sort of price they are generally going for...
Or just say what your car is and somebody will probably look it up for you, make sure you state
Make
Model
Trim Level
Engine size and fuel
Mileage
General condition.

It doesn't really matter what you state as the value for insurance purposes because in event of a write off, you'd only get what they value it as anyway. With bit of haggling you might up it by a couple of hundred punds, but a rough estimate based on what others are selling for is as good as it needs to be.
Thank you all for your help. I guess Maidup is right. The extras on the car and the amazingly low mileage probably will do no more than add a few hundred pounds to the value, so I'm probably just being picky. I'm currently with LV, their new quote isn't bad but it could be lower, so I'll get a few comparison quotes in and then give them a call i think. Thank you all again for your help.
If your looking for quotes use the cheapest one..............
