In 2014 if we'r still alive & kicking we intend to do a Mexico Cruise flying from Man UK We have done a cruise before only one, can anyone out there recomend a company that is good on prices? We have only just started to look but I thought someone on here will have done one TIA. TWR.
Besides looking at what packages are available – see how much it would cost to put the package together yourself (flights/cruise/hotels). I did this once on an Alaskan cruise, which allowed me complete freedom to do my own thing post cruise. Although to be honest I reckon it only saved me £200 per person at most.
Be warned that if for some reason you fail to make the ship, that will be your problem, and there will be no courtesy transfers between airport/hotel/ship.
Hi Hymie, thanks for you input, I was thinking about that but as you say, one slip up & your in Sht st. I've had a look at Virgins site & a few others, but the Web is full of Ads, so I will either use our Local Tour shop or search on-line, we have 2 years hopefully unless one of us decides to go for a trip upstairs!!
For what it is worth, Mrs Hymie & I have only cruised with NCL (and so cannot compare with others) – but we like what they call their ‘Freestyle Cruising’, where you can eat when you like (you don’t specify early or late siting). If you want, you can eat 24 hours a day on their ships; some of the American passengers appear to do just that.
If there is a queue at a restaurant, they give you a beeper and page you when a table is available – but the food was so good in the buffet ‘café’, we normally ate there.
I have done a cruise out of LA down to Acapulco but did not think much of what was on offer at each port of call. To maximise any shore trips, do your homework before travelling and decide what you want to do/see.
I don't think you can generally book that far in advance - you can book 2013 cruises now, but not 2014.
Get yourself on the email lists of the cruise travel agents and make notes on the prices they charge, and the routes that have vacancies. Ones that prove hard to fill will usually mean the prices will fall, as the ship has to sail, and from their point of any income is better than none.
There are others - have a look at the ones advertising in the weekend broadsheet newspapers. If you sail around Mexico you'll probably find most passengers are Americans.
i actualy work for a travel compnay and you cant book anything for 2014 atm, the flights just havnt been released yet. they normally get released about 11 months before departure. Sometimes BA and Thomson release flights quite a bit sooner but as of yet (i just check our system for you) there is nothing loaded for that time.
flights are not released until 11 months before departure but sometimes we have BA allocation flights a bit earlier. But we wouldnt have anything for 2014 as of yet. Think its going up to about aug 2013. i would say start calling for prices when all companies have the flights released to them so about 11 months before you go.
