The Lost Steptoes: Of the 57 Episodes of Steptoe & Son, how many of them survive? I expect that they've still got all the colour ones from the 1970's, but I imagine some of the ones from the 1960's are missing

Does anyone know?

Hi Lynn,

The Steptoe and Son episodes survive, bar 13 of them, and even more painful is that the lost episodes are the very first that were broadcast in colour.

All but two episodes from Series 5 and 6 have been lost. All that remains are the 13 poor quality home recorded black and white copies.

You can buy a complete box set of the whole 8 Series plus the Christmas Specials from shops or online...........Play.com has it for just under £24.

I think some of the radio versions are missing too.

Most, if not all, were re-recordings of the TV episode scripts.
