its really tricky giving sedatives to cats they dont respond as well as dogs. you can use valium from your vet but sometimes this has the opposite effect and can make them excited so vets arnt usually too keen
acp the old fashioned dog sedative is not recommended for cats.it does not really sedate them just flattens them so thay cant do anything about the fear
you could try a feliway spay for the inside of her cat box which gives off cat pheromones to chill them out . they also do plug in for the house too.
is she an indoor or out door cat?
or maybe theres a herbal alternative a lot of vets are getting more into hoemopathy now.
maybe also talk to an animal behaviourist too see if they can help at all.
There are grooming shops that also clip and clean cats not just dogs, see if there is one near you.
Whoever does it have them show you how to clip nails so you can do it next time, so she can be in the comfort of your home, and that way you could do one one day, the second one the next day and so on until all are trimmed, ( in case you can't do all at once).
Poor kitty.......I rescued a dog that had firecrackers thrown at her dog house everyday for a year, owner thought he could get her to be used to gun fire that way.. Every time she heard a loud pop she would run for the hills as best she could. I finally desensitized her to come by me when she heard them. Good luck....
