Does anyone else ever think they are wasting the precious life they have been given? I often do. Since I retired I feel I have no real focus in my life.
Some mornings I lie and think what is the point of getting up and then I hear the dog and realise she wants her walk so that makes me get up. When my husband was alive it was fine but now every day seems the same.

On the grounds that nothing could be worse...........................?
Question Author
Yes thanks, Duncer, thanks to you all I am feeling a bit brighter and tomorrow is a new day.
Please keep us posted? Days might very well seem to be the same but you have the power to change them.
most peeps have skills to be reaped. Sew, knit, art & shop for ebay. Profits to spend on relatives & friends. Making money easily on ebay can become obsessive & making customers happy is satisfying.
Question Author
Definitely not arty, Tambourine. Used to knit but people don't really want knitted stuff nowadays.
OH and I are members of U3A, I can really recommend it. I organise a lunch club, we go to a different pub each month for lunch, anything from 40 -65 members, good fun. We also have skittles and a lunch each month. A lot of the members are single. It is not a stuffy organisation, you just join in the activities you like the look of. Every club is different, the members decide which activities they want in the club. When we first moved here we didn't know anyone our age only family. Now we have made good friends and have an active life. Please give it a go spotit3.
Question Author
Hi Carandrog, since three of you ave mentioned it I am definitely going to enquire about U3A in the morning. That is my mission for tomorrow!!
Good luck spotit with whatever you decide to do. Let us know how you get on.
Hear, hear. Please keep us posted Spotit3?
I must agree spotit that sometimes it can be tough. After my husband died I think I became defined by my job, especially in social situations, so when I retired I was sort of in limbo. I took on another job which was well paid but packed it in after 6 months as I was bored.
Nowadays I just appreciate other things more than I used to. I see a lot more of my friends, who I've been very lucky with, and also see a lot more of my daughter. I've been on holidays which I've never previously considered, and also have the companionship of a dog which is very rewarding.
Nothing can make up for the loss of a partner but happiness can be found in different ways......................
Question Author
Just wondering, Craft, when you said to had been on holidays which you had never previously considered did you go of your own? Hope you don't mind me asking.
no spotit I have a cruise 'buddy' who is also a widow. We didn't actually know much about each other until the first cruise but she is now one of my best friends.
