I am interested in purchasing a Celcus LCD 423D913FHD 42" 3D Full HD TV which Sainsbury's are selling for £319.99.
I know Celcus isn't a top name but there are some fantastic reviews.
What I am not sure about is, do I have to buy other items so that I can watch HD TV and 3D, or can I just set it up and enjoy these features?

First, these reviews look very very dubious. Some days 5 or 6 people put reviews in for this TV, which sounds very suspicious.

Secondly, it seem to indicate it has Freeview built in but not Freeview HD.

So if you want to watch Freeview HD you would have to buy a Freeview HD box. Or a Freesat HD box to watch it via satellite. Both are free to watch after you buy the boxes.

You can only watch 3D if the signal coming in is 3D, so this would have to be via a 3D Blu Ray player (which you have to buy) and a 3D Blu Ray disk (which you have to buy).

Or Get Sky 3D but I think they only have on channel in 3D.

So this TV is nothing special and will give no nothing over any other "basic" TV.

Save up an buy a TV with Freeview HD built in, and get one from a decent make (Samsung, Sony, LG etc)
Seems most of these reviews are probably fakes.

Note on 11th July user Sachuraaje put a review which began "As one wanders through the quagmire of possibilities one came across this television. But truth be told one could not believe the exuberance of the reviews....."

But the previous day, 10th July, user Andy1234 put a review that began "As one wanders through the quagmire of possibilities one came across this television. But truth be told one could not believe the exuberance of the reviews.."

Both reviews used exactly the same text.

This is a classic example of the text being written in advance by employees of Sainsburys or Celcus and the text just being "pasted" in.

Seems a person pasted the same text in twice by mistake.

So I would not trust any of the reviews (some do look genuine but others look very dodgy - someone saying the liked watching the Sky 3D TV channels when there is only one channel).

Someone is being very very naughty here to "talk up" the TV.

Unfortunately you cant see how many reviews each person has put in but I bet most of them have only done the one review, for this TV. Another example of people doing fake reviews.
In the current climate I can't see a great uptake of 3D TV if you have to get a special telly that costs a lot, and have to have a dear TV package from Sky. A lot of ppl have only just thrown the B&W valve set away and spent a few hundred on one that will get HD. At least there is Freesat HD and Freeview HD. The operative word being "Free".

I see no Free3D anything.

I asked the same question on 24Jun. General feeling was that budget makes cannot be trusted for quality. No evidence but my research showed that they are all made by a company called Cello in Turkey and the brand name, whatever it may be, is added later. That is how they can claim to be 'one of the biggest manufacturers in the world. Another gut feeling is that 3D is just a gimmick. I eventually bought a LG 42" with 3HDMI and 1 Scart from a company called electronic world.co.uk. They deal in ends of ranges, ex display, etc, sometimes still boxed. The picture is phenomenal.
100Hz and 150000/1 contrast. Whats more I paid £330 which is £100 cheaper than the same model at Richer Sounds. Only prob may be is that you have to pick it up at one of thei depots which are placed at various motorway locations. BTW if Sainsburys are posting dodgy reviews this should be reported to trading standards as fraud.

Thanks for your replies.
I value the advice of VHG as he has given sound advice in the past.
I must admit that some of those reviews do look a bit dodgy, so I think I will steer clear of it.
