the movie Amadeus is on telly now. Salieri has propositioned Mozart's wife, basically saying if she lets him have his wicked way with her, he'll give Mozart a top job. He prays she'll take up his offer, she duly shows up and strips ready for action, yet he rings a bell, demands the servant take her away, and vows to do all he can to destroy Mozart from then on. Why? i don't get it. Why didn't he sleep with Mrs Mozart and why did he instead have her removed from his home and threaten to ruin her hubby?

Salieri wasn't a priest. He stayed celibate in return for his musical ability.

I thought I would revert back to my first ever avatar for this occasion!! :)
Men lie. Priests sin. Some men are impotent. Some are just control freaks.
No Sandy, not even bothering to open the link (sorry) I don't get, like or understand opera. To my ears it's just shouty rubbish.

But then again, I like Steps- so what do i know? ;-)
I believe the "bare breasts" scene was cut from the original film and only reinstated when it came out on DVD.
>>>Salieri was actually very well respected at the time, and just as famous as Mozart.

I suppose it may be argued that Salieri was more famous than Mozart at the time.

When Mozart died the fact he was buried with such little fanfare shows he was not that famous or well known.

Salieri had a large funeral where all the famous local composers and musicians attended.

This is the same crap you have posted on three other threads.
Not an authority on classical opera - but which famous pieces were left behind by Salieri?

Great film!
