Office Temperature

Is there a maximum and minimum temperature that an office should be at legally?

If not; would it be a different situation for a pregnant employee?

If  my GP or consultant wrote to my employer telling them the office conditions are too hot and are a risk to my pregnancy would they have to take action?

I gather in England there is a min. temperature but no max. in the workplace.  I felt very uncomfortable in my office when I was pregnant but only got a lot of unpleasantness from the Services Dept.  They kept telling me the system was working well and that was that as far as they were concerned.  The fact that I was sweating and suffocating did not concern them in the slightest.  If your GP/consultant wrote to your employer they would have to look into making the environment better for you but if it turned out it was impossible or too expensive, they could argue it would not be unreasonable for them to dismiss you.  Sorry it is not very good news.  Good luck with your pregnancy.

I agree there is no max temp - BUT employer must prove they are trying to do something if it gets too hot.
Would an electric fan help? We have several in the hospital where I work.

Get a letter, take it to your boss and demand that they reseat you near a window or even a doorway to a hallway that can be wedged open and that they provide you with an electric fan - threaten them with early paid maternity leave due to health issues - they'll soon comply

An old thread here. But a recurring issue apparently! Although all my suggestions of cooling methods get thrown back at me! The fan I offerred was too dirty. I dismantled and cleaned it. It was too strong and blew too hard. Running cold water on wrists was poo pooed. What do I do now????
