This could be the ratio of LDL (bad) cholesterol to HDL (good) cholesterol. A ratio of 4.4 is on the low end of "average risk". If it is the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL, then 4.4 is also about normal:
^ however, according to the new cardiac risk assessment tool, they take this reading into account with your other lifestyle factors, history etc., to see if it's worth doing something about. mine was just under 7 and the GP said it was still reasonably low risk, given all the other healthy factors in my life - now it's gone up, I've gone back on medication.

My husband had to go on statins,too, as his level was 9.9! Mine fluctuates a lot.Highest so far has been 6.5. Due to have it done this month but can't be bothered!
