Can anyone tell me why every year for the past 30 years or so every time you walk in the pub around christmas you will here slade, wizard, paul mccartney etc etc. whether you agree or not the fact is there just aren't any decent christmas songs being recorded anymore. In fact there aren't any decent records around full stop!

I think you've answered your own question frodsham, there just haven't been any decent Christmas songs for ages. One of my favourites is from the 80's, Christmas rapping by the Waitresses, and in my humble opinion I don't hear that one often enough!
Perhaps because for my generation the christmas music of the 80's reminds us of a time when christmas was special and exciting. We might be the one's putting the music on!
Spudqueen- Christmas wrapping is greeeeaaaat! Not just a good xmas song (is there such a thing?) but a great record full stop!
Bah humbug frodsham,ok so we hear the same songs over and over every year but this is all part of Christmas.Every Christmas I get out my Phil Spector Christmas Album and it drives my family mad,but I don't care. The reason that most singers of today don't write festive songs is because they are stuck if they can't put in some swear words. So sing along with Slade and try to get into the festive spirit, after all Christmas comes but once a year.
I'm not stuck in the past...I've just uploaded my 7 inch version of Merry Christmas Everybody to my personal mp3 player !!!!
