absolutely BRILLIANT according to a friend of mine who was there. Danny Boyle spoke to everyone and asked them not to video it or take pictures to keep it a secret. She said when it started she thought Oh No! but then it all kicked off ad was brilliant. Britain through the ages, Lancashire cotton mills, our shipbuilding history, the 1950's immigrants arriving, punk rockers exploding onto the stage, and much much more. She also said it was very well received by the audience.

This friend is a Newcastle lass not given to getting excited about history but she loved it, especially when they covered the Jarrow March!

Oh, and they couldn't take water bottles in with them. The water had to be decanted into plastic glasses.

So come on, are you pleased it's looking good or are you wanting it to fail?

Alba sorry I probably worded my OP badly in my haste to impart the good news to you people. What I meant was they were asked not to take pics and vids to go on FB etc but weren't asked not to talk about it.

Craig White it will all end in tears and excuses and I bet you'll be really happy if it does eh? What a little ray of sunshine you are:-(

Kiki, Craft, Ummmm, Marval, thank goodness some are entering into the spirit of the games and supporting our athletes who have worked so hard to get there. We have enough to be miserable about what with the recession but some people seem to like wallowing in it. I really really hope it's a roaring success.
I don't see how it can 'fail' exactly. These things are always a bit ridiculous but this sounds intriguing. I hope it goes brilliantly and I rather think it will. I'm looking forward to watching it although I have no idea on which channel

Ichkeria, the main Olympic coverage channel is BBC One.
Watching the ladies football on BBC interactive right now and I take it all back; I wish I had bought those tickets. Still, Spain to look forward to tomorrow.
The thing is we're on holiday abroad with satellite channels from Astra and Hotbird, so no BBC1.
USA 4 France 2, and it was a great game. Second game delayed due to South Korean flag being shown rather than North Korean one.
I'm delighted the opening ceremony is looking good and looking forward to the whole spectacular thing.

I've saved up and I don't care if I have to pay £2 for a bottle of waterwhen I go to the park - its a once in a lifetime event and I'm going to make the most of it.

Ichkeria I think you'll be able to get most of it on you tube;-)
Call me old fashioned but I prefer TV to my phone ;-)
Arryadia TV to the rescue, should anyone care :-)
Butties and takeaways for the next two weeks. Will enjoy every minute of it all.
Your friend was right
Question Author
Thank you, she was indeed.
Glad I didn't see your Wednesday post before now, I wanted it to be a surprise when I watched it. If the people at the rehearsal were asked to keep it quiet why did you post the details on here? Maybe you should have put Spoiler Alert! Anyway it doesn't matter I didn't see it to spoil things beforehand. Hope you liked it? We thought most of it was very good :)
Question Author
People were asked not to take pictures and videos as I explained to Alba. I can't imagine that anything I said spoilt it for anyone nor was it intended to do so.
Why are you complaining about something you didn't see? People who DID see it didn't complain.
Anyway, thank you for your input.
